Connecting and Encouraging the Next
Generation of Minority Female Attorneys
The Sisters in Law, LLC is an online platform for minority women in the legal profession to share experiences, reflections, and lessons learned throughout their careers. Our mission is to bring together women of color in the legal field to foster a community of encouragement and help inspire the next generation of young lawyers.
In 2018, the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) reported that 8.08% of lawyers at U.S. firms were minority women. That number drops to roughly 3% at the partner level. While there are many speculations as to why the numbers are so low, one thing is certain: being both a woman and person of color in the legal field is a unique and often isolating position.
It is my sincere hope that this site will be a virtual space for minority female attorneys in their first few years of practice - through out Texas - to find support and connection. All the tools you need are within reach, plus you have a sisterhood of strong women cheering you on. Keep rising.
xo, Dominique
